Job Summary
The Sr. Total Rewards Analyst (Compensation Focus) is a key member of the Total Rewards team, responsible for analyzing, administering, and contributing to the design of FranklinCovey's compensation programs, with secondary responsibility for benefits analysis, support, and backup. Approximately 75% of this role is dedicated to compensation analysis and program administration, and 25% to benefits analytics and administration backup. This role requires exceptional analytical skills, advanced Excel capabilities, strong attention to detail, and the ability to translate data into clear insights, findings, and recommendations for People Services and business leaders. The Sr. Total Rewards Analyst also plays a visible operational role in how Total Rewards information is accessed, communicated, and experienced across the organization — including ownership of rewards reporting infrastructure, employee and manager communications, and the Total Rewards inquiry experience.
Essential Job Functions
Compensation
- Market Benchmarking & Job Evaluation: Primary resource for job matching and market pricing using external survey data and internal frameworks via direct interaction with People Services and Business Leaders across the company. Manage the job evaluation and leveling process using existing FranklinCovey tools, ensuring internal equity and alignment with FranklinCovey's compensation philosophy.
- Data Library, Reporting, Dashboards & Inquiry Mechanism: Participate in surveys to ensure FranklinCovey has top notch rewards data. Maintain the CompAnalyst data subscription to keep it current. Produce regular and ad hoc compensation reports (e.g., pay distribution, pay equity, range penetration, turnover and pay, pay vs. performance). Design, build, and maintain Total Rewards dashboards that provide People Services leaders, HR Business Partners, and business leaders with clear, real-time visibility into key compensation and rewards metrics Translate analytical findings into clear, concise insights and recommendations for HR partners and business leaders.
- Establish, own, and continuously improve a Total Rewards inquiry ticketing system — designing the intake process, categorization framework, SLA standards, and resolution workflows to ensure employees and managers receive accurate, timely, and consistent responses to compensation and benefits questions. Track inquiry volume, trends, and resolution metrics; report findings to the Director, Total Rewards to inform communication, education, and program design improvement.
- Annual Compensation Cycles: Responsible for annual execution of the Stewarding Rewards cycle (merit, promotion, and incentive cycles), including: System configuration of the merit cycle in compensation platforms, Data preparation and validation to ensure accuracy of employee data, pay ranges, and performance inputs prior to cycle launch. Key contributor to Communications campaigns. Compile cycle rollup reporting and post-cycle analysis for Total Rewards leadership.
- Compensation Analysis & Modeling, Design Cycle Participation: Build and maintain moderately complex Excel models for salary structures, pay ranges, merit and promotion modeling, and incentive program calculations. Incentive & Sales Compensation Support: Assist in maintaining plan documents, tracking eligibility, and performing calculations/reconciliations for variable pay plans (e.g., sales incentives, bonuses).
- Total Rewards Inquiry & Employee Experience: Partner with People Services Operations and HR Business Partners to triage, route, and resolve inquiries appropriately, maintaining a searchable knowledge base of common questions and answers to improve self-service over time.
Benefits Backup & Total Rewards Support
- Benefits Analytics & Reporting: Provide moderately complex modeling as an extension of the broker analytics arm. Assist in preparing data and analysis for annual renewals and plan design discussions. Support benefits reporting as needed (enrollment, costs, utilization, vendor scorecards, compliance-related data).
- Benefits Administration Backup: Serve as a backup resource for benefits administration tasks (e.g., eligibility audits, vendor file reconciliations, employee escalations) when the primary benefits lead is unavailable.
- Total Rewards Projects: Contribute to cross-functional Total Rewards projects (e.g., job architecture, pay transparency/readiness, policy updates, system enhancements). Assist in preparing materials (presentations, summaries, FAQs) for managers and employees about Total Rewards programs.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, Finance, Economics, Data Analytics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
- 5+ years of experience in a compensation analyst, HR business analyst, or Total Rewards analyst role
- Experience with Excel
Preferred Qualifications & Skills
- 5+ years of experience utilizing moderate to advanced Excel skills, including: Advanced formulas, Pivot tables, charts, and data validation. Comfort working with large data sets and building reusable templates/models
- Demonstrated experience with compensation analysis, salary structures, market pricing, and/or incentive pay support.
- Experience working with HRIS and/or compensation systems (e.g., Workday, SAP SuccessFactors, UKG, or similar)
- Demonstrated experience configuring or administering compensation cycles in an HRIS or compensation management platform
- Exposure to benefits administration or vendor management, even if not the primary focus
- Familiarity with external market data and surveys (e.g., Radford, Mercer, Aon, Willis Towers Watson, salary survey tools)
- Experience building and maintaining HR or Total Rewards dashboards using tools such as Excel, and AI
- Experience designing or managing a helpdesk, ticketing, or inquiry management system in an HR or Total Rewards context (e.g., ServiceNow, Zendesk, Jira, or equivalent)
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills with high attention to detail and data accuracy
- Ability to communicate complex data and analysis in clear, accessible ways (written and verbal) to non-technical stakeholders
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated integrity and discretion in handling sensitive compensation and employee data
